Where it fits

Most gut products start with bacteria. Yona works in two layers.

Your gut doesn’t run on its own. The nervous system tells it when to move, digest and settle, mostly through the vagus nerve. Vagus One supports that signal.

Gut Barrier+ is the second layer: direct support for the gut environment the signal arrives at, starting with the lining.

New to Yona? We usually recommend starting with Vagus One and adding Gut Barrier+ when you want more direct gut support. See Vagus One

Layer 1 · Vagus One

The signal

Nutrients for normal nervous system function and the gut–brain connection. The upstream half of the system.

Layer 2 · Gut Barrier+

The environment

Four ingredients for the gut lining, the mucus layer above it and the balance of what lives in your gut.

How it works

Your gut lining is one cell thick.

That single layer of cells is the boundary between what you eat and the rest of you, and your body replaces it every few days. Gut Barrier+ puts four ingredients to work on it, each on a different part.

Diagram of the gut lining The inside of the gut sits above a mucus layer and a single row of lining cells joined at their tops. Numbered markers show where each ingredient works: 1 sodium butyrate feeding the lining cells, 2 S. boulardii in the gut, 3 zinc carnosine at the joins between cells, 4 immunoglobulins binding unwanted particles.

1500 mg

Sodium Butyrate

Fuel for the lining

A short-chain fatty acid your gut bacteria make when they ferment fibre. The cells lining your colon use it as their main source of energy.

2250 mg

Saccharomyces boulardii

A beneficial yeast

Not a bacterial probiotic. A well-studied yeast that supports a balanced gut microbiome and a healthier gut environment.

375 mg

Zinc L-Carnosine

Protection for the lining

Zinc bound to carnosine, a form known for adhering to the gut lining, where it supports the mucosa and the joins between cells. Zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

41,000 mg

Serum-Derived Bovine Immunoglobulin

Binds what shouldn’t be there

Concentrated IgG proteins that bind bacteria, toxins and other unwanted substances inside the gut, before they reach the lining.

Full transparency

Four ingredients. Nothing hidden.

No proprietary blends and no filler list. Every active ingredient is on the label at its full dose.

What’s not in it

  • No harsh herbs or antimicrobial “cleanse” blends
  • No proprietary blends that hide doses
  • Not suitable for vegans or vegetarians: contains bovine-derived immunoglobulin

How to take: 3 capsules a day with food. Sensitive systems can start with fewer and build up over the first week.

The difference

Why not just take a probiotic?

Probiotics add bacteria. Cleanses try to clear things out. Gut Barrier+ supports the lining those bacteria live against.

Honest fit

Is Gut Barrier+ right for you?

It’s a good fit if you…

  • Already take Vagus One and want more gut-focused support
  • Want something broader than a probiotic on its own
  • Prefer a gentle approach without harsh herbal blends
  • Are building a longer-term digestive routine

It’s probably not for you if you…

  • Want an overnight fix
  • Are looking for an aggressive cleanse, detox or antimicrobial protocol
  • Need a vegan or vegetarian product
  • Expect a supplement to replace medical advice or treatment

Your first 12 weeks

Built for consistency, not a quick fix.

The lining renews itself continuously, so steady daily support matters more than any single dose. Here’s what the routine looks like.

Week 1

Start gently

Take with food. If your system is sensitive, begin with fewer capsules and build up to 3 a day.

Weeks 2–4

Build consistency

Same meal, every day, alongside Vagus One. Consistency is what the routine runs on.

Weeks 5–8

Support the environment

Keep going. This is where daily support for the lining and gut balance adds up.

Weeks 9–12

Continue your routine

Finish the full 12 weeks, then decide whether to keep it as ongoing support.

3 pouches cover the full routine at £36.00 a pouch, which works out to £1.20 a day.

How is Gut Barrier+ different from Vagus One?

Vagus One is the foundation of the Yona system. It supports the nervous system and the gut–brain connection, the upstream signal.

Gut Barrier+ works more directly on the gut environment itself: the lining, the mucus layer and the balance of what lives in your gut.

Do I need both?

Not always. If you’re new to Yona, we usually recommend starting with Vagus One. Gut Barrier+ is best for people who want additional, direct gut support alongside it.

Is Gut Barrier+ a probiotic?

No, it isn’t a standard probiotic. It contains Saccharomyces boulardii, a beneficial yeast, alongside sodium butyrate, zinc L-carnosine and serum-derived bovine immunoglobulin.

How do I take it, and how long does a pouch last?

Take 3 capsules a day with food. Each pouch holds 90 capsules, which is 30 days. If your system is sensitive, start with fewer capsules and build up over the first week.

When should I expect to notice a difference?

Gut Barrier+ is designed to be taken consistently as part of a 12-week routine. Support for the gut environment builds gradually, so we suggest judging it over the full 12 weeks rather than the first few days. Everyone’s experience is different.

Is it vegan or vegetarian?

No. Gut Barrier+ contains serum-derived bovine immunoglobulin, so it isn’t suitable for vegans or vegetarians.

Can I take it with medication, including PPIs?

If you take medication, have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under medical supervision, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using any supplement.

Gut Barrier+ isn’t a replacement for medication. Don’t stop or change prescribed medication without medical guidance.

Where do you deliver and how long does it take?

We ship from the UK with Royal Mail or Yodel. Standard UK delivery is free and takes 2–3 working days. Express next-working-day delivery is available at checkout for orders placed before 12pm.
