Why it keeps coming back

Everything you’ve tried works on what’s in your gut.

  • Fibreadds bulk
  • Peppermintcalms a cramp for an hour
  • Antacidssettle acid that’s come up

Each does a real job. But every one works on what’s in your gut, not on the signal that tells your gut what to do with it.

Everything you’ve tried works on the acid.

  • Antacidssettle what’s come up
  • The daily tabletturns the acid down
  • Extra pillowslet gravity help
  • No late mealsleave less to come up
  • No coffee, no winetakes triggers away

Each does a real job. But every one works on the acid, not on the valve that keeps it down.

That leaves one part of digestion none of them reaches.

None of them works on the valve.

The part they don’t reach

Your gut does the moving. A nerve sets the pace.

Acid stays down while a valve stays shut.

There’s a valve at the top of your stomach. While it stays shut, acid stays where it belongs. When it opens at the wrong moment, acid comes back up: the burn after dinner, the cough that won’t clear, the night spent sitting up.

The food pipe running into the stomach, with the valve drawn as a ring where they meet and a nerve running down to it.The nerveThe valve

That valve takes part of its cue from a nerve: the vagus nerve, the main line between your brain and your gut.1 A very full stomach pushes on it too, which is why a big dinner and lying down soon after hit hardest.

Two panels. Left: the valve at the top of the stomach is shut. Right: it opens and wisps rise from the stomach into the food pipe.Valve shutValve opens

The main line from your brain to your gut is called the vagus nerve.1 It carries the “rest and digest” signal: when to start, how fast, when to ease off.

The digestive tract with three numbered points: 1 at the top of the stomach, 2 in the stomach, 3 in the intestines.
  1. 1 · TopThe lid

The lid at the top of your stomach should stay shut. When it doesn’t, acid comes back up. That’s the burn after dinner, the cough that won’t clear, the night spent sitting up.

  2. 2 · MiddleThe emptying

Your stomach should empty in good time. When it doesn’t, food sits there and you swell.

  3. 3 · BottomThe pace

Your gut should move things along at a steady pace. Too slow, and the days go by. Too fast, and you’re looking for the nearest loo.

One nerve has a hand in all three.1

And you’ve felt it turn down. It’s worse in a hard week, whatever you eat.2 When your body is braced, digestion waits.

It’s not just the burning.

What you want back is ordinary: dinner, then bed, then sleep.

What to do about it

A nerve has to be fed. So we built what it runs on.

To keep the line to your gut working, the nerve needs three things: fuel, building blocks and a calm state. Vagus One is all three, in one formula. Nine nutrients, each with a job. Two capsules a day, with a meal.

The valve answers to a signal. The signal runs on nutrients.

The muscle that keeps acid down takes part of its cue from your nerves. That cue travels on a messenger your nerves build from what you eat, and sending it takes energy. Vagus One is daily nutrition for that signal. Two capsules with a meal.

From a former NHS doctor

“I watched patients stay on acid tablets for years longer than anyone planned. Nobody was asking what came next.”

Acid-suppressing tablets are good medicine. They turn the acid down fast, and at first that’s often exactly what’s needed.

But they were meant to manage reflux, not to be the whole plan. NICE guidance says long-term use should be reviewed every year. In clinic, I kept meeting people who’d been on them for years without that conversation ever happening.

Long-term use isn’t free, either. The MHRA has warned about low magnesium and a higher risk of fractures with prolonged use. Most of the people I saw had never been told.

We’re taking a stand against managing the acid forever and calling it a plan.

Don’t stop anything you’ve been prescribed. Do ask your GP for a review. And while you’re at it, feed the part of digestion no tablet reaches.

Sana MisraFormer NHS doctor
From a former NHS doctor

“As an NHS doctor, I treated bloating and bad sleep as two separate problems. I was wrong.”

Medicine is built to find disease, and it’s brilliant at it. But when nothing is seriously wrong, you get a fix for each symptom. Something for the gut. Something for sleep. Each treated as if the other didn’t exist.

Then I saw what they had in common. Digestion that changed with stress. Sleep that fell apart when people couldn’t unwind. Different symptoms, one trigger.

That isn’t a gut problem or a sleep problem. It’s a nervous system problem.

And the nerve that links them is the vagus nerve. More and more people are running short of the nutrients it needs.

That’s what led us to build Yona.

The science

Over a century of research. One daily formula.

Vagus One is built on what physiology has known for more than a hundred years about the nerve that runs your digestion.

  1. 1921Your gut’s nerve has a messenger.

Otto Loewi shows that the vagus nerve signals chemically. The messenger is acetylcholine, and the work wins a Nobel Prize.3

  2. 1943That messenger is built from nutrients.

Acetylcholine is shown to be made from choline and an acetyl group. Later work ties that acetyl group to vitamins B1 and B5.4

  3. 2000sThe ingredients are tested in people.

Citicoline, saffron and L-theanine go through randomised, placebo-controlled human trials.

What the research shows

Citicoline · 250 mg

In a double-blind trial of 60 women aged 40 to 60, 250 mg a day meant fewer attention errors than placebo after 28 days.5

Read the study
Saffron · 30 mg

In a double-blind trial of 128 adults, 28 mg a day improved mood scores against placebo. In a second trial at 30 mg, heart-rate variability held steady during a lab stress test, where it dropped on placebo.6

Study one Study two
Benfotiamine · 200 mg

In a human absorption study, benfotiamine raised blood thiamine far higher than standard thiamine.7

Questions

Questions people actually ask.

Will it work for me?
For most of our customers, digestion gets better: in our customer survey, four in five reported better digestion. Vagus One works on the nerve side of digestion. The vagus nerve sets the pace of your gut, from stomach acid to the waves that move a meal along, and it runs on specific nutrients. Vagus One supplies them every day. And your first 90-day supply comes with our money-back promise, so you can start with confidence.
What is Reflux Calm?
It’s the add-on we suggest alongside Vagus One for reflux, and it’s optional. Vagus One is nutrition for the nerve; Reflux Calm is our formula for the lining side: sodium butyrate, S. boulardii, zinc carnosine and bovine immunoglobulin. One 30-day bottle (90 capsules, three a day), usually £29. Tick the box in the order form and it’s free with your first 90-day supply, or £29 with the 30-day supply. One per order, not repeated on renewals, while stocks last. Vagus One is vegan; this add-on contains bovine-derived immunoglobulin, so it isn’t suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
What’s the optional Gut Repair+ add-on?
Vagus One is the plan, and for most people it’s all they’re here for. Gut Repair+ is a separate formula for anyone who’d also like support for the gut lining: sodium butyrate, S. boulardii, zinc carnosine and bovine immunoglobulin. If you want it, tick the box in the order form and one 30-day bottle (90 capsules, three a day), usually £29, is added free to your first 90-day supply on either plan. One per order, not repeated on renewals, while stocks last. Vagus One is vegan; Gut Repair+ contains bovine-derived immunoglobulin, so it isn’t suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
I take a daily tablet for acid. Is this instead of it?
No. Vagus One is a food supplement, not a medicine, and it doesn’t replace one. They work on different things: your tablet works on the acid, Vagus One is nutrition for the nerve side of digestion. Keep taking what you’ve been prescribed, and check with your GP or pharmacist before adding a supplement. Many of our customers were on acid medication when they started. Any change to yours is a decision for you and your GP.
Is this a probiotic?
No. There are no bacteria, enzymes or fibre in Vagus One. It’s nutrition for the nerve side of digestion: vitamins, amino acids and a plant extract. You can take it alongside a probiotic if you already use one. (The optional Gut Repair+Reflux Calm add-on does include S. boulardii, a yeast.)
Why would I need this if I already eat reasonably well?
Because most of what’s in Vagus One isn’t something you’d get from meals in these amounts, even eating well. Citicoline, acetyl-L-carnitine, L-theanine and saffron extract aren’t vitamins, and benfotiamine is a form of vitamin B1 your body absorbs far better than the standard kind. The B vitamins and magnesium alongside them are there because the nerve uses them together, in set daily amounts. A good diet is the foundation. Vagus One adds a steady daily supply of the nutrients this nerve runs on.
Does Vagus One stimulate the vagus nerve?
No, and that’s the point. Breathwork, cold water and devices stimulate the nerve: they ask it to fire. Vagus One is nutrition. It supplies what the nerve runs on, so it works alongside anything you already do.
How long until I notice a difference?
Most people who notice a change feel it within the first four weeks. It builds from there, because you’re supplying what the nerve runs on rather than forcing a response. That’s why Vagus One is designed as a 90-day routine.
When’s the best time to take it?
Two capsules daily, with a meal. If you’re sensitive to supplements, start with one capsule a day for the first few days.
Do I need to change what I eat?
No. A varied, balanced diet comes first, and if a food genuinely disagrees with you, keep avoiding it. Vagus One doesn’t ask you to cut anything out.
Can I take it with medication or other supplements?
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under 18 or have a diagnosed condition. Check the amounts across any other supplements you use.
When should I see my GP instead?
If you have blood in your stools, unexplained weight loss, difficulty swallowing, severe or persistent pain, diarrhoea that lasts more than seven days, or a change in bowel habit that lasts three weeks or more, see your GP. Those need assessing, not a supplement.
Do I have to subscribe?
No. Choose One-time purchase for a single payment and nothing renews. A subscription renews at the price in your order summary (every three months for the 90-day supply, monthly for the 30-day), with no minimum term; you can pause, skip or cancel.
How does the 90-day promise work?
Take Vagus One every day for 90 days from delivery. If nothing has changed, email us between day 90 and day 120, answer a few short questions, and we’ll refund what you paid for that supply. There’s nothing to send back. The promise covers your first 90-day supply; the 30-day supply isn’t included.

You’ve tried everything else. Give the nerve ninety days.

Nine actives. Two capsules a day. One ninety-day routine.
